A Web Server for Multiple Sequence Alignment Using Genetic Algorithm
So far, many multiple alignment algorithms have been developed and applied to an extensive area of the genome sequences analysis. Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of such algorithms and it has been successfully applied to multiple alignment methods. As pointed out in the paper in which many multiple alignment programs have been assessed, GA is one of the most reliable approaches to align multiple ...
متن کاملMultiple Sequence Alignment by Genetic Algorithm
In the previous research work using Genetic Algorithm (GA) to perform multiple sequence alignment [2], we observe that the gaps tend to group towards the rightmost ends of the aligned sequences for datasets with very long sequences, with similarity or with large number of sequences. This becomes problematic when the expected gap-blocks should be inserted in another location of the aligned seque...
متن کاملA genetic algorithm for multiple molecular sequence alignment
MOTIVATION Multiple molecular sequence alignment is among the most important and most challenging tasks in computational biology. The currently used alignment techniques are characterized by great computational complexity, which prevents their wider use. This research is aimed at developing a new technique for efficient multiple sequence alignment. APPROACH The new method is based on genetic ...
متن کاملA Parallel Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Multiple Protein Sequence Alignment
This paper presents a parallel hybrid genetic algorithm (GA) for solving the sum-of-pairs multiple protein sequence alignment. The method is based on a multiple population GENITOR-type GA and involves local search heuristics. It is then extended to parallel to exploit the benefit of multiprocessor system. Benchmarks from the BAliBASE library are used to validate the method.
متن کاملA simple genetic algorithm for multiple sequence alignment.
Multiple sequence alignment plays an important role in molecular sequence analysis. An alignment is the arrangement of two (pairwise alignment) or more (multiple alignment) sequences of 'residues' (nucleotides or amino acids) that maximizes the similarities between them. Algorithmically, the problem consists of opening and extending gaps in the sequences to maximize an objective function (measu...
